Will the GOP actually do anything different?

For many years the same mantra goes forth from the GOP. Stop government spending, reduce taxes, make real cuts, reform our entitlement programs, and the list goes on and on and on. Yet every four years the same issues and the same problems are still there. So it begs the question, if a conservative wave overtakes the US senate and the White House and retains the US House, will it even matter?
Let's examine history. Ronald Reagan was a true conservative. He had grand designs for reducing government, and increasing the power of state and local governments. He wanted to abolish the Department of Education. Yet the liberals and yes squishy republicans fought him tooth and nail over every reform. Every year from 1981 to 1988, the Reagan White House submitted a budget that reduced spending and cut into bureaucracy. Yet these budgets were dead on arrival and we saw spending increase and so did our deficit. Liberals love to say that Reagan created the deficit but the truth is that it was the liberals in both parties who were the reason for the deficit. The department of Education wasn't abolished and government continued to grow.
President Reagan was a great leader. He accomplished a great deal. Yet if the truth be told he was limited in what he could do to Washington because the liberals in both parties fought him. The trajectory of government spending and it's power continued to grow.
The 1994 revolution and the Contract with America era made some headway. From balancing the budget, reducing taxes, and reforming our entitlement programs. But that coalition fell apart and the GOP went back to the same old thing under George W. Bush. Passing tax cuts, while at the same time passing a prescription drug benefit entitlement, No Child Left Behind written with Ted Kennedy, and well you get the picture. George W. Bush led this nation through the aftermath of September 11th and led us through the conflicts that followed. He did cut taxes and was a good man. But the trajectory of government, from it's spending and it's power, continued to grow. We've have seen the fruits of unchecked liberalism to the housing collapse, the collapse the of the auto industry, massive unemployment, and now even more government intrusion.
This is not to depress or discourage. Only to warn and steel us, the conservatives, that this is a crucial election in a crucial time. I believe America is ready for real change. It's time to be bold and unyielding. It's time to actually cut government spending and reduce it's influence in our lives. Now is not the time to go along and get along. Now is the time to stand up and fight for the future this country can have if only we hearken back to the principles in our founding documents. We cannot tolerate anymore of the squishy liberal bilge that flows like a fountain from Washington and from both parties. Again we can either reverse course and actually do some of the things we've been talking about for decades, or we can elect a moderate to the White House and do a few things differently but still continue our descent towards the utter destruction of America as we know it. The choice is ours. What will we do?

Purdue In trouble- White House is nervous

With Governor Bev Purdue's approval ratings low and with the recent revelations of the criminal acts of some of her cronies, it appears the democrats are fearing a blowout in the November election. Her opponent at this point would be former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory, who narrowly lost to Purdue in 2008. Many believe that McCrory was a victim of the Obama coattails.
http://biggovernment.com/publius/2011/12/20/bureau-of-labor-statistics-gave-insider-information-to-democrat-governor/
The above story indicates that the liberal democrats and the White House are uneasy about Purdue's chances. The story is that Purdue was leaked by an official in the Bureau of Labor unemployment numbers before they were reported. The gist is that the governor could craft a message or get out ahead of the numbers to benefit her politically. The point is that it is illegal and shows the desperation of the left in NC.
It just shows you that there is a tidal wave coming folks. If the GOP carries a truly conservative banner in 2012 and they hang the last 3 1/2 years of socialist policies, unemployment, and stagnation around Obama's and Purdue's necks, then we should expect a landslide. But again we are talking about the GOP here, who always finds a way to screw conservatives and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
A word to former Mayor McCrory. Carry a conservative message of tax reform, tougher immigration laws and procedures, less government, offshore drilling, support for traditional marriage and you will win the day. If you listen to the elites and the brainiac pollsters and political scientists which will tell you to try to tone down such a message and be more moderate to attract independents, you will lose again.
Again Conservatism wins elections.

It's not who is the best debater.

Why has Newt Gingrich risen like a phoenix from the ashes. Simply, the debates have given Gingrich his stage to wow the GOP electorate. One could argue that if there were not as many debates Gingrich might still be on the bottom of the pile and maybe Rick Perry would still be up front.
But I keep hearing the same line over and over and over again. "We need someone who can beat Obama in the debates, we need a smooth candidate." It's the same quote you hear from the lackey media. If that is the sole criteria then Gingrich or Romney is the winner. Let's just proclaim them the winners and go home. Not so fast.
Gingrich is an insider, no question about it. He has numerous problems. From sitting on a couch with Nancy Pelosi, to his propensity for wacky statements, and his attack on Paul Ryan's budget and welfare reforms. Romney has flip-flopped on clean coal, abortion, gay marriage, and numerous other issues and he is more interested in impressing the moderates then convincing conservative voters. There are three other candidates out there that are true conservatives. Debating and being slick are traits that should not be in our consideration in this primary. It's whether or not the candidate is conservative in their values and will they fight for those values bravely without wavering.
I would rather have someone who may not be the best talker, but someone who has the conservative ideals and principles that will lead this nation back from the brink. It's about the ideas, the policies, and the values. Not whether they are slick talker.

All Redistricting Options

Below is the link to all the options for Redistricting. It's important to review these and to tell our commissioner what we think.

DOC121511.pdf

Redistricting

The Moore County Commissioners will be deciding soon about redistricting. Possibly at their upcoming meeting in January. As of now there are six total options for there consideration.
Option six listed below is basically a leave it as is option. The districts would basically stay the same. In a later post I will post the other options.

http://www.moorecountync.gov/webfiles/Boc/docs/Option6%20District%20Map.pdf

Well in my view the redistricting needs to be about the representation of the area. The best option whichever can accomplish this needs to be where the commissioners who live in that district are representing the needs of that district.
But I have to say that an option I would love to see is putting Tim Lea and Nick Picerno in the same district. It not only would be very lively and vigorous, it would be epic. Tim has feuded with Nick ever since they have been on the board. It would pit Nick, the true conservative, against Tim, the Dick Dastardly of Moore County. It would be a pay-per-view event. Probably won't happen but hey a politico can dream.

Tim Lea: The Scrappy Doo of Moore County

Many of us in Moore County have been exposed to the Tim Lea treatment. He says one thing and does another. However Mr. Lea has done something which I think will explain to those of you who are unfamiliar with his methods exactly what I am talking about.
http://www.thepilot.com/news/2011/dec/11/board-apologizes-criticism-working-lands-plan/

You can read the above story for more detail, but here is the Reader's Digest version. The Moore County Commissioner's were presented a land use plan that has been in the works since December 3, 2007 when it was approved by a unanimous vote of the Commissioners. Two of the current commissioners, Craig Kennedy and Nick Picerno, were not on the board at the time of the vote. As far as we can tell the land use plan was crafted behind close doors with no input and no public hearings. Commissioner Picerno voiced his concern over the potential for more bureaucracy and red tape over our county. He also expressed his concern that the plan was done behind closed doors and with no public or even commissioner input.
Mr. Lea then at the next meeting apologizes to the staff as if there was some great injustice that had been dealt to the planning staff. So lets summarize. Tim Lea votes for a land use plan that appears to be just a bailout of farmers and more red tape and regulation. Then when a fellow commissioner makes the valid point that the plan was done "in a corner" as it were, Mr. Lea then makes a grand show by apologizing to the staff.
This is classic Tim Lea. Trying to kiss up to the staff for political reasons and also defending the behind closed doors methods of the planning staff while passing himself off as a "conservative".
Let's review some of Tim's flip flops.
1. Argued that taxes would have to be raised in 2008 when he was running for re-election. He challenged then candidate Nick Picerno's idea that tax increases were not necessary by asking where the "magic dollars" were. Then when the budget was scheduled for approval for that year he voted against it. It raised taxes like he wanted it and even insisted that it had to do, yet he voted against it.
2. Tim Lea wanted to build a jail. He made the motion to send it out for bid to the architects. He wanted the most expensive set up when it came to the design of the jail. Yet he voted against the current design which saves tax payer dollars.
3. He was a constant voice of opposition to what Michel Holden, David Cummings, and Virgina Saunders wanted to do. These three comprised the conservative bloc if you will. He fought to get Jimmy Melton, Larry Caddell, and Cindy Morgan elected. Then when they didn't crown him king....I mean chairman of the Commissioners he became the loyal opposition to the very people he worked to elect with the exclusion of Tim Lea lackey Cindy Morgan.
4. He rails about spending money and being a watchdog for the taxpayer, yet he used county employees on county time to work up a politically charged, factually inaccurate power point presentation which was nothing more than a re-elect Tim Lea memo.
5. He stirred up and encouraged the false charges levied against Southern Software, which two of the commissioners were at one time or are currently involved with, for conflict of interest. These rumors and outright lies were discredited. Yet Mr. Lea does not bring up issues involving his own conflict of interest. When he was chairman of the planning board, several cell tower permits that would bring in thousands of dollars of income were directed to Tim Lea's family and their property.
I could go on but you get the picture. Tim Lea is the scrappy-doo of Moore County. He fights about everything. He constantly tries to pick a fight with anything and everything and on top of all this he is just wrong on almost every major issue concerning our county. It's time to send him home. I hope a true conservative comes forward and challenges Mr. Lea in the upcoming 2012 primary.

Is the TEA party racist?

Glenn Beck has now joined the fray of commentators and blabber mouths who have insinuated that the motivation behind the TEA party is an inward Jim Crow complex from old prejudiced white people who comprise the TEA party. Now, Glenn did not say that but his wording just stokes the fire even more. What Glenn was saying is that is Gingrich is the nominee for the GOP, which he is saying would have to with complicity from the TEA party, that it would mean that progressive liberalism is OK, so long as the dude in chief doing it is white and not black.
While the comparison is way off when it comes to Obama and Newt, lets take what he is saying. If the TEA party with complicity nominates a squishy republican and ignores fine conservatives like Rick Santorum, Michelle Bachmann, and I guess Rick Perry just for laughs, then are they really serious about defeating progressive liberalism or are they just mad that a brother occupies Pennsylvania Avenue ( no relation to the Occupy movement ;P)
In my opinion the answer is no. The TEA party is not a party or a machine. It is a libertarian style movement that is diverse as America itself. The TEA party is mostly concerned with fiscal issues but there are many in the movement who share social conservative values. The TEA party however is despised and mostly mocked by the establishment whether it be in the liberal media, democratic party, and even the GOP. Because they want to bring America to a place where the establishment and the leftists are obsolete and worthless. They want to abide by a set of principles and ideas in our Constitution and that spells doom for the left and for the elite who are growing fatter by the day by the current state of affairs in government.
So again Glenn is wrong and so is everyone who says that the TEA party is racist. The TEA party should however understand that getting behind a squishy liberal republican whether it's Romney or Gingrich would hurt their credibility and would hurt America in the long run. My dad compares it to running off a cliff at 100 miles an hour or 30 miles an hour. Either way if we don't change course we will go off the cliff so to speak. So if the TEA party wants to assert themselves in a bigger way in 2012 then they as a whole need to support a true conservative for President.
